For my practicum, I worked at Americare. Americare is an outpatient physical therapy rehabilitation center that aids all patients of all age groups. This office focuses on providing consistent evidence-based therapy for mobility and function maximization. Worldwide rehabilitation needs are increasing, and chronic non communicable diseases are posing a threat to quality of life to all. Physical therapy focuses on allowing individuals to regain their independence after undergoing chronic conditions. As someone who is interested in the field of sports medicine, I wanted to gain a comprehensive and extensive view on rehabilitation procedures and issues facing the aging population. I learned that physical therapy integrates concepts from biological, physical, behavioral, and clinical sciences into their services. Working with the patients and assisting the physicians in performing evaluations and treatments, I understood the importance of adapting to the patients' process in order to reduce the injury. My work at Americare in Owings mills, MD, allowed me to develop knowledge on the significance of rehabilitative measures and their impact on society.
