For my practicum project, I interned at BeMore Physical Therapy under the supervision
of Lorren Rapkin in Owings Mills, MD. At BeMore PT, I was able to assist the physical
therapists with patient care, manage and maintain equipment, assist patients in performing exercise programs, prepare treatment rooms, and perform administrative duties. The facility provides physical rehabilitation through various treatments while providing a comfortable environment for every patient which I really admired. I learned a wide variety of exercises and physical therapy treatment modalities, such as moist heat, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and dry needling, the importance of time management in providing the best care for all patients, as well as the many benefits of positive reinforcement translating to patient comfortability. People from Baltimore of varying ages can improve longevity from physical therapy. Not only that, but receiving physical therapy allows individuals to feel safe and comfortable while receiving care
which increases support in the community regarding public health. Through assisting patients in performing treatment plans, exercise programs, and communicating with patients, I was able build connections and foundations of trust which is important for health professionals.
