For my practicum, I worked at Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Center (PTSMC) as a Physical Therapy Aide. PTSMC provides therapeutic and rehabilitative services in various areas around Maryland. As a Physical Therapy Aide, I worked with patients directly and guided them through their personalized exercise plans, as well as assisted around the office wherever I was needed. At PTSMC, our goal is to rehabilitate and heal our patients so that they can return to their normal daily lives. I learned that older populations seem to be more susceptible to impact and deteriorative injuries, as well as how many barriers to access there are for many people. My work at PTSMC connects to public health because we are providing direct support and care to people who need physical rehabilitation, which improves the health and wellness of our society!
