For my practicum project, I was able to travel with Public Health Beyond Borders, a nonprofit organization here at the University of Maryland, which aims to serve communities around the world and host workshops there that are catered to the things that the community there needs. I was able to go to Varanasi, India, and host two sets of workshops regarding stress management and first aid with our partnered schools. Personally, I was able to lead the stress management workshops, along with a partner, in a classroom and was able to deliver a short lecture as well as conduct a class activity regarding a healthy stress management activity (origami). While actively engaging with the students there I was able to learn about the different causes  of stress in India versus common stressors here, and how levels of stress differentiate according to living conditions. Growing up as an Indian American here in the states, put me in a very privileged spot for receiving education and opportunities to grow that students my age back in India are not able to receive. So to be able to go back and give back to my community some of the education I carry, allows me to feel like I was able to give them an opportunity for better health.
