Documentation and Health Funding

For my practicum, I interned at Angel Loving Care Inc., a home nursing organization for individuals with disabilities and in need of support. Though a huge part of work at the clinic is the nurses that provide care, an important part, often overlooked, is the documentation needed at these clinics. For organizations who use government funding to help clients, there is waiver collection documentation for funding from the organization that is necessary to collect funds. In my time at Angel Loving Care, I check all documentation and time logs, for inconsistencies, missing hours, or missing documentation to ensure the organization is receiving the funds they are supposed to. Being at Angel Loving Care, and working with documentation has taught me how important it is to the organization and well being of the patients that the paperwork is completed correctly and checked for mistakes. Any of the aforementioned errors can drastically affect the amount of funding the government provides to the organization, which could result in no care for the patients since the organization can’t afford to run any longer. I’ve learned that documentation is such an integral part to grassroot and grasstop organizations when it comes to funding their programs.
