The University of Maryland School of Public Health’s Exercise for Brain Health lab observes how the use of aerobic and resistance exercise can slow the progression of and improve the symptoms of brain disorders like Alzheimer’s Disease in the elderly. Since the summer of 2021 I have been working as a research assistant for the Exercise for Brain Health lab. As an RA I have been teaching classes of varying exercise types and intensities to the participants as well as recording and inputting data on the participants from these classes. This experience has not only allowed me to assist in furthering the research studying the effects of exercise on brain structure and function, but it has also allowed me to bring awareness to the utility of exercise in promoting proper brain health.
