I work for the Together Program which is a nonprofit organization with a goal of promoting healthy family relationships, personal well-being, effective parenting, and employment and financial stability in our communities. We provide free workshops for couples that want to improve their communication and problem-solving skills, reduce their stress, and handle their finances successfully and that may also need services for their families and assistance with employment. We strive to make our workshops accessible to everyone but recognize that couples with children often cannot attend because they do not have childcare. Luckily, our program pays for childcare when couples use a licensed provider in Maryland. My specific duties for the practicum are reformatting files on BOX, finding resources for participants, recruiting childcare providers and possible partnerships, proofreading/editing materials, managing the social media pages, and contributing to revamping future internships.
Hi Megan!
I think this topic is really important to discuss! I had two questions. How diverse were the participants in your program (ex. age, race, gender, etc.)? If any, what specific groups of people were more interested in the program?
Very useful topic! Since you seem to have worked more on the background logistics side of things with recruiting childcare and such, what sort of things really helped make the logistics of the programs go smoother? What were some of the core things that absolutely had to go right?
