For my practicum project, I have been working as an intern for the Together Program. The Together Program is a nonprofit program for couples that offers relationship and financial education, connection to community resources, and access to employment services. My task as an intern has been to search for childcare providers willing to establish a partnership with the Together Program. Many of the couples need childcare services during the timing of the meeting and workshops, and the Together Program helps them find that. So far I have learned about the difficulties families are facing during COVID-19 to find childcare providers. Many are not accepting new clients due to the pandemic, which leaves parents having to sacrifice work or counseling in order to watch their children.
This is a really interesting project. This pandemic has shifted the dynamics of family and home life. Family scientists will be studying the effects of lockdown and Covid19 on families for years to come. Aside from reaching out to childcare services and newspaper ads, what other ways are families are actively marketed so that the information gets to those most in need of the knowledge?
How many simple (or difficult) is it for families to take advantage of the services provided by The Together Program?
